Choosing Bathroom Colours
Whenever you need to chose paint colours it is important to remember that you will be living with these colors for quite some time. When we were in the process of choosing bathroom colours the designer who we were working with was quick to explain that we should chose a color that we could easily update and change the decor of the bath without having to repaint every time. She said that the color needed to be neutral enough that it could work with several different decor styles. That way we would have flexibility with our design choices. In addition, the designer explained that we could introduce a few bathroom colours into our color palate. She suggested that we chose some accent colours. The wall that surrounded our jetted tub was a perfect place to use a bold accent color. In general, the bathroom would be quite neutral but it was going to have a few bold colours to add interest and impact. We decided to go with a warm taupe color for the main color. The accent color of choice was a deep chocolate brown that we used on the wall around the bathtub. From there we were able to chose wall and floor tile that incorporated many varying shades of browns and taupes.
The bathroom colours had a tremendous impact on the "mood" of the space. When the room was finished we had a warm and inviting bathroom. We added some darker green touches on the towels, rugs, and wall art. The palate turned out to be earthy and comfortable. We were thrilled with the end result of the project and had so much fun redoing our master bathroom that we have now decided to continue on with a complimentary color palate in our master bedroom. for that space we will use a bit more of the green and tone down the taupe and brown shaded. The two rooms connect so having the bathroom colours compliment the master bedroom will tie the two spaces together and make the space feel more like a master suite as opposed to a separate bedroom and bathroom. Before this remodel I never realized how big of an impact that color can have on a space. The mood for this master suite has been set and I never want to leave. It is a true retreat for my husband and myself. |
