Hiring A Certified Interior Decorator
We had just opened our very own law practice. My partner wanted us to hire a certified interior decorator to come in and help us decorate the offices. She explained that the reason she wanted a certified designer was because in the past she had hired someone who said they were an interior decorator but they were not. This person had never gone to school for any type of design and in the end the project was a disaster. A professional designer was what we needed to get this law practice looking sharp. I agreed and we began looking for a certified designer. We decided that the best way to find a certified interior decorator was to interview a few of them and to look at their portfolios of completed work. We knew that we wanted our offices to be warm and inviting and professional at the same time. We found a designer who just finished her certification. We decided to go with her because her education was fresh in her mind and she seemed to ask all the right questions. the designer said she had always had a love of interior design and finally decided a few years ago to find a program to become a certified interior decorator. This meant going back to school and she said that she knew she was up for the challenge.
There are numerous colleges, universities, and schools that offer courses in interior design. There are certificate programs and full out college degrees. Our decorator had gone for a degree program that took a few years to complete. Her professionalism and education and knowledge showed in her book of work and drawings that she had completed while in school. We could tell that she had a love of space and design. In fact she had a natural eye for furniture placement and for making things work together in a space. I knew that she had found her calling as a commercial certified interior decorator. In order to be good at something you have to love it. My partner and I love the law and the decorator loved interior design and decorating. We had found the perfect person to make our new offices all that we wanted them to be. From the furniture, artwork, rugs, and accessories this was the person who was going to pull it all together and give us the office of our dreams. |
